Ok so, every Sunday morning I sit down and make out my grocery list. When I went to Walmart the other morning, I stopped into McDonalds to get a drink and the lady made a comment about my list (thus the topic).
I had to dig in my purse to even find an old list to use. I sort my list by departments in the store. Or even aisles. I take last weeks menu, turn it over and that's what I use for my list. Doesn't it make sense to sort the list? And I am anal (I know, can you believe it?), about how I go through the store. I have to go in the nonfood side (we really only have walmart here as our decent priced grocery store). Do the h&b first, then pets. Then back past electronics (stopping to see what's on clearance), then past crafts. THen to cleaning if I need anything. Then to dairy, around the cheese/lunchmeat. Then to the aisles. Get everything by aisles done. Then frozen/meat/bakery/produce last. Then I go to the checkout. I look for a certain checker, while avoiding several of them. I still don't know if one is male/female yet. Then comes time to load it on the belt. If I take the time to put it on the belt in an organized fashion, I expect it to be bagged the same way. I want a checker that is a shopper herself. Not some teenage kid. Now my daughter (and son too) works at the local grocery store (higher priced, but I do go there to get some meats and toilet paper/another story). She understands how to bag groceries when she checks. She learned from the bitch, I mean the best. The family doesn't like to go with me because of this. (I swear, I am "if you give a moose a muffin", I started out talking about my grocery list and have gone on a tangent).
Then when all the groceries are bagged (and the checker better put the rest of them in, I want to put the heavy stuff in) I head out of the same door I came in.
Now my menu. You don't see Sunday's dinner on it. SInce I make my list on Sunday, I don't put it on there. Now Monday nights will be a little more extensive of a meal. Just like Wednesday's. Tuesday/Thursday's are simpler. Those are clinic days, and I am not sure what time I will get out of work. Love crock pot meals. Saturday's, I don't cook, these are musgo days (this must go, this must go). I like to ask for input from the family, but sometimes don't get much help. The days can vary, but we will have the meals on the menu for the week. Tough when I don't know when Kacey will be home. I think it is VERY important to sit down as a family when we are all together. I refuse to have the tv on while we eat. I really enjoy this time with the family. The kids have heard "has anyone offered you drugs today?" since they were young. Funny that now they turn it back on us!.

Love to hear how other's do their meals!
